Dr. Janusz M. Dąbrowski is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Chemistry, Jagiellonian University, Kraków, Poland and a visiting professor at the University of Orlenas, France. He graduated from the same University with his M.Sc. degree in Chemistry in 2005. During his studies he spent a few months in Prof. Mariette M. Pereira’s group at the University of Coimbra in Portugal exploring the synthesis of new porhyrins. After finishing his Ph.D. degree in 2009, he spent 2 years as a postdoctoral fellow in the group of Prof. Luis G. Arnaut. He has received some prizes and fellowships (from the Rector of the Jagiellonian University, American Society for Photobiology, European Society for Photobiology and International Photodynamic Association). His research interests include the development, photochemical studies, and biological evaluation of new compounds designed for biomedical and environmental applications. He has authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles, few book chapters and several review papers. He is a principal investigator of several grants on Photodynamic Therapy, Photodynamic Inactivation of Microorganisms, Cancer Imaging and Photocatalysis.
