Jean-Olivier Durand graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Paris in 1990 and obtained his PhD in organic chemistry (asymmetric synthesis) with Prof. J. P. Genêt in 1993. He spent a 20 month postdoctoral position with Prof. W. Oppolzer at the University of Geneva (Switzerland) in asymmetric catalysis. fter two other postdoctoral studies in Rennes (Prof. Le Corre) and Paris (Dr M. Larchevêque) in asymmetric synthesis, he was appointed a CNRS researcher in 1996 at the Laboratoire de Chimie Moléculaire et Organisation du Solide, Institut Charles Gerhardt Montpellier. His research interests in nanomedicine consist of developing mesoporous silica, silicon and PMOs nanoparticles for photodynamic therapy and drug delivery.
